Meditation traces back to Hindu roots around 1500 BC. There are different types of meditation. There are religious forms such as Christian meditation spoken of in the Bible, where you focus and think about the Bible verses as you read them. Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism all employ meditation into their religions. There are also new age types of meditation, such as yoga, focused or numbed out totally open meditation, Christian visualization, etc… They can employ music, body positions, beads, relics, any number of different things, but the end goal of them all is the same: to help the human condition, to heal in some form or capacity or to achieve some type of balance in some way.
